The Social Model of Disability

The Social Model of Disability helps us recognise that societal barriers make our lives harder not our impairment or health conditions. You can read more about the Social Model of Disability below.

At our last away day the Merton CIL team (staff and trustees) agreed on a definition of the Social Model of Disability:

My impairment/health condition does not make me disabled, societies barriers do.
