Merton CIL recognises the connection between climate breakdown, the biodiversity crisis, wider environmental degradation and, for millions of people around the world, the increasing risk of homelessness, disease, food and water shortages, and poverty.

We are also clear that we must play our part in terms of mitigation and adaptation, and are, therefore, committed to becoming a more environmentally sustainable organisation. Specifically, we will:

  • Use resources efficiently by endeavouring to reuse, repair and recycle where possible, and thereby reduce waste.
  • Consider environmental impact when purchasing goods and services.
  • Consider environmental impact when reviewing our organisations use of AI.
  • Engage with local environmental initiatives, promoting them to our staff, trustees and members accordingly.
  • Review our travel policy to encourage walking, wheeling, cycling, car sharing, and the use of public transport where possible.
  • Review our induction procedures to ensure that all new staff understand our environmental aims.
  • Aim to monitor our environmental performance and make improvements where necessary.
