The government assert that the Timms Review – named after the Minister of State for Social Security and Disability, Stephen Timms – is an attempt to ensure that PIP ‘is fair and fit for the future in a changing world’ and ‘helps support Disabled people to achieve better health, higher living standards, and greater independence, including through employment.’

The Review’s Call for Evidence closed on 28 May, and you can read our submission here.

The timeline going forward is as follows:

  • Summer 2026: A steering group will analyse the submissions to the Call for Evidence and create detailed policy recommendations.
  • Autumn 2026: The review will conclude and its findings will be reported directly to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
  • Post-Autumn 2026: The government will decide on any changes that they think need to be made.

You can rely on us to keep abreast of developments. Please keep an eye out for our updates.
