At Craftivism and Chat in April, Sarah, our Policy and Campaigns Assistant hosted a session celebrating diversity and inclusion through creatively expressing something meaningful about our identity or lived experience. You can see examples of what Craftivism attendees created below.
These squares will be pulled together to create a collective artwork showing how different lived experiences and perspectives can sit side by side within one community. We need more of our community to share their art and help us create something impactful together.
How to get involved from home:
1. Create a piece of art on a square piece of card or a digital square that is 20x20cm (2000x2000 pixels)
2. Email to info@mertoncil.org.uk
Your square might reflect something meaningful about identity and/or lived experience — for example impairment, race, gender, sexuality, faith, culture, class, neurodivergence, or other aspects of who you are.
Disabled people exist across every part of society, and this project recognises that our community includes a wide range of lived experiences.
Need Materials?
We are able to share Craftivism and Chat packs with our community of members that may not have access to art supplies but wish to be creative. These packs include square card and other art supplies.
If you would like a Craftivism and Chat pack, please get in touch. These can be collected from our offices or posted.
Sarah also created a creative expression guide. If you would like this guide, please let us know and we will share it with you.
We look forward to seeing what you create!
