Craftivism & Chat - Well Being Catch Up

On Thursday 23rd July, we hosted an extraordinary Craftivism & Chat wellbeing catch up.

We hope that extra catch up session supports Disabled people to feel less isolated and lonely and provides a chance to get connected.

Wimbledon Guild, Age UK Merton and Thinking works came along to discuss staying well in warm weather. If you missed out on the session you can take a look at the powerpoint slides here - Staying Well in Warm Weather

Here are a few top tips that were shared around maintaining health and well being whilst at home:
  • Prioritise your sleep- going to bed and waking up at a regular time
  • Keep your mind active- crosswords, puzzles, letter writing
  • Stay connected with phone calls, letters, emails, texts, online platforms
  • Eating a healthy, balanced diet is important: ry to eat healthier snacks, Buy frozen, dried and canned fruit & veg without added sugar or Plan your meals when shopping & stick to regular mealtimes

Wimbledon Guild also spoke about their services and support that they can offer Disabled people in Merton throughout the crisis. If you are struggling with money and need support to buy food you can contact them for supermarket vouchers. You will be required to provide some information abotu your income.

Thinking Works are also able to support with grants around heating and insulation in the home.
