Today on the International Day of Disabled People #IDDP, we’re reminded that disability justice is deeply connected to every other fight for equity.

The barriers we face, exclusion through inaccessible systems, distorted stories in the media, narratives designed to downplay structural injustice, are not unique. They echo the experiences of many marginalised communities.

Media and Government framing often turns systemic problems into isolated incidents or exaggerates extreme cases to paint a false picture of what’s “normal”. These stories distract from the deeper, real issues that harm us all.

Intersectionality shows us that our struggles are linked. And when our struggles are linked, our solidarity becomes powerful. Joining together means supporting one another, amplifying each other’s truths, and pushing back against narratives that divide us.

Because justice for Disabled people is justice for all marginalised people.

Happy International Day of Disabled People #IDDP25. A group of 25 people of different ages, ethnicities and cultures, all in the same cartoon style. They are celebrating and smiling. 1 is a manual wheelchair user. Background is a blue gradient fading to purple and then pink.
