We are looking for a Disabled person (*read what we mean when we say Disabled here) to join our board and support exciting work around strategic development, communicating our impact, embedding new styles of leadership and development, governance and more.

  • Are keen to speak up about disability justice.

We want to hear from you!

At Merton CIL, we work hard to address the marginalisation of Deaf and Disabled people and make a real difference in Merton and the wider community. By joining us, you would be part of a team that are passionate about pushing for a fairer society where Deaf and Disabled people can take control over their lives and achieve full participation.

You would be supported by a great team of trustees, who have a diverse range of lived experiences and skills and who work well together. You would also be supported by a passionate, engaged and dedicated staff team. You can read more about our team here.

* Our Board of Trustees won the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion award at The UK Charity Governance Awards

Gina served on our board for many years, but will be formally standing down. You can read more about her journey as a trustee here.

We would provide you with an informative induction period and provide exciting opportunities around training and development. We would provide reasonable adjustments and support with access needs to ensure that your journey to becoming a trustee was barrier free.

Interested but unsure if you have the skills or confidence?

We understand the barriers that Disabled people face. Therefore, if we meet and agree the role is a fit, we are willing to provide you with person-centred support to build leadership skills, better understand the role and see your lived experience as expertise. We hope this will help you to feel confident becoming a trustee.

Many of our current trustees had not been trustees before, but now use their experiences as Disabled people to guide the organisation.

How to apply

Just send us a short email, voice note, video or piece of art, telling us why you would like to join our Board of Trustees.

Deadline – 12th October 2025
