Craftivism & Chat - Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion Through Creative Expression
Wednesday 08 April 2026
13:00 to 15:00
This creative session invites members to explore intersectionality within the disabled community through craft, conversation, and shared reflection. Participants will each create a square using any medium they like — from collage, drawing, text, photography, or digital art.
Each square will be 20 × 20 cm, giving everyone the same starting point while allowing complete freedom in how they express their ideas. If you’re working digitally, a square format (around 2000 × 2000 pixels) works well. The squares will later be brought together to form one collective artwork, showing how many different perspectives can sit side by side within one shared community.
Your square might reflect something meaningful about identity and experience — for example race, gender, sexuality, faith, culture, class, neurodivergence, or other aspects of who we are. Disabled people exist across every part of society, and this project recognises that our community includes a wide range of lived experiences.
The session is also a positive response to the rise in hateful rhetoric around protected characteristics. By creating something together, we hope to celebrate diversity, spark conversation, and highlight the strength that comes from standing together across our differences.
No artistic experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to take part.
